Introducing Our School

Bangladesh International Tutorial was opened in August 1983, by the Founder-Principal Ms. Lubna Choudhury.

The first buildings were situated in Gulshan and classes were from IX to XII.

B.I.T. through the years has acquired land of five and a half acres (16.5 bighas) in Uttara Model Town and two large buildings have been constructed – the Junior School and the Senior School – classes range from Play Group to XII. Girls’ School is under construction.

However, the Uttara buildings have been made to accommodate 1800 students and as the school has well over 2000 students, we have retained three buildings in Gulshan. Classes begin from Play Group to VIII in the KG & COED campus – the Girls’ Section is from I – XII.

The new Senior School in Uttara was initially opened as The Red Brick School – a sister concern of B.I.T. – following the Cambridge Curriculum (CIE) in 2005. Later, this was merged with B.I.T. in 2012 which follows IGCSE & GCE Curriculum under EDEXCEL and University of London.

A great emphasis is given to sports in this school – hence three acres (9 bighas) has been allotted for games

Greetings to all Parents, Guardians, Students and Alumni:

In 1983, some parents -including myself- were not satisfied with the teaching standards in English medium schools and as I had been teaching for many years, expatriate parents from the Embassies, the UNDP, and the EEC approached me to open a school. I am ever grateful to Dr. W. Holzhausen and his wife for their encouragement and support. Dr. Holzhausen was the first Chairman of the school board.

Today, as an institution where we welcome our graduates’ children, we are excited to present our newly improved website; one that we envision will expand and grow to accommodate all your needs. We hope that this site will serve as a useful tool and enable parents and students to access information more easily, such as the school calendar, ongoing events and schedule changes.

We will have individual website logins that will enable each student and family member to access information and communicate directly with us. Additionally, during strikes and other condition/situations that disrupt the academic calendar, students and parents (from class I to VIII) will be able to access homework online that will be uploaded by the teachers. Our hope is to enable learning even in challenging situations.

To further facilitate matters, we hope to inaugurate part of the Admission Procedure online and have school fees paid in the same manner- this will be in effect by December. There are also other digital upgrades in the works, including new computers and Wi-Fi throughout our campuses.

We look forward to your feedback on this new endeavor at the start of the 2015-2016 academic year. We hope through this channel to connect and remind all from BIT that their every action matters and that they are never to forget to serve their communities, their nation, and thus the world.

Regards,
