Bangladesh International Tutorial Model United Nations (BITMUN) is one of the most dynamic student-led initiatives at the school. It provides students with the opportunity to step into the role of global diplomats and engage in thoughtful discussions on some of the most pressing international issues.
Through BITMUN, students simulate the work of the United Nations, representing different countries and debating global topics such as climate change, human rights, international security, and sustainable development. Participants research their assigned countries, draft resolutions, negotiate with other delegates, and present arguments in formal committee sessions.
This experience helps students develop a wide range of important skills including public speaking, research, critical thinking, diplomacy, negotiation, and leadership. It also encourages students to become more aware of global affairs and understand the complexity of international relations.
BITMUN is open to students from middle and senior school, particularly those involved in the Debate and Model United Nations Club. Regular training sessions, workshops, and practice conferences prepare students to participate confidently in both internal and external MUN conferences.
On October 9-11 last year, we hosted BITMUN V, the biggest MUN conference in Dhaka, with an astonishing number of 700 attendees. With Tasfia Musrat Jinisa, Secretary-General of the conference, along with Rudro Dayhan, President, and Zabir Hossain, Director General leading the student body in organising, the event stood out as an example of academic excellence.
By taking part in BITMUN, students gain valuable exposure to international perspectives and build the confidence to express their ideas in a global forum. The experience also strengthens university applications by demonstrating initiative, collaboration, and a strong interest in global issues.
